How to install Codex Dream Skin

Codex Dream Skin reskins the OpenAI Codex desktop app without touching the official installer, app files, or code signature. Installation takes about a minute. You only do this once — after that, applying any skin from our gallery is a single step.

macOS

  1. Download the project from GitHub (Code → Download ZIP) and unzip it.
  2. Open the macos folder and double-click Install Codex Dream Skin.command. If macOS blocks it, right-click → Open → Open.
  3. Start it with Start Codex Dream Skin.command. Codex relaunches with the skin applied.
  4. To use a pack from this site: unzip it, double-click Customize Codex Dream Skin.command and choose the pack's background.jpg.

Windows

  1. Download and unzip the project from GitHub (same link as above).
  2. Open the windows folder, right-click install-dream-skin.ps1 Run with PowerShell.
  3. Launch with start-dream-skin.ps1.
  4. To apply a pack from this site, run the customize script and point it at the pack's background.jpg.

Restore the official look

Run Restore Codex Dream Skin.command (macOS) or the restore script (Windows). Because the tool never modifies the app itself, the stock UI comes back instantly — Codex updates are unaffected.
